Jiamond Elizabeth
She created Passion Projects for the People, LLC to guide participants through a dance landscape that would provide a healing balm to their psycho-somatic nervous system. Jiamond believes that play, exploration, and improvisation within a dance context has the capacity to change the trajectory of someone’s life because it happened for her. She performed professionally for companies across the nation and continues to teach technique to youth in the state of Maryland. She is passionate about dance practice as a means of development for students of all ages. Jiamond utilizes her personal unique medicine to offer holistic, intellectually stimulating environments for students to deepen their capacity to perform. She is an intuitive energy healer and is descended from generations of shamans, teachers, and water people. She is interested in guiding dance practice in a way that addresses social and communal issues like physical health, womb health, women’s issues, youth development, adult spiritual health, and family connection.
Founder and CEO Jiamond Elizabeth (she/her) is an artist and healer. From PG County, Maryland, Jiamond spends most of her time thinking about how dance practice can bring people together and lift them up. She studied at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and earned her undergraduate degree with honors from University of the Arts in 2020. She is a professional performance artist, educator, writer, and yogi. Jiamond experienced a huge shift in her life during the global pandemic. Time in isolation allowed her to connect with African Traditional Religions and Ameri-Indian folklore. Her interest in ancient rituals and ceremonies spawned a deeply intuitive and spiritual approach to choreography.
